NICR Grants Program
The NCDEX Institute of Commodity Markets and Research invites research proposals in the area of commodity markets and risk management for grants of Rs. 70,000 each.

The proposal should not exceed 1500 words and should follow the structure outlined below.

  1. Study title
  2. Description of research question and objectives
  3. Methodology or research strategy (including description of empirical model, estimation techniques)
  4. Description of data sources
  5. Principal papers in literature that directly relate to the topic
  6. Contribution of the study in relation to the existing literature and/or in relation to the policy context

Proposals not in the above format may not be considered. Proposals will be examined by an expert committee and will be rated according to (a) the clarity and importance of the research question (points 2 and 6 above), (b) the soundness of the research strategy (point 3 above) and (c) its feasibility.


Authors are encouraged to focus their research goals. It is essential that the proposal (i) identifies a research question (to be answered by the study) and (ii) points out the novelty and/or relevance of the question with respect to the literature and/or the policy context.


Proposals submitted by June 30, 2008 will be considered for the 2008 grants program. Successful proposals will be notified by July 15, 2008. Authors of these proposals will be invited to present their work at a workshop in September 2008 at which time 50% of the grant money will be disbursed. The rest will be disbursed on submission of the final draft of the study. Completed papers will be considered for publication in the Journal of Commodity Markets and Risk Management (http://www.nicrindia.com/wfrmJournal.aspx).
